I have recently completed the Bachelor of Education Degree program at Brandon University. My previous education includes a Bachelor of General Studies Degree from Brandon University as well as a Criminal Justice Diploma from Lethbridge Community College. My studies at Brandon University focused on History and English. My studies at Lethbridge Community College were focused on Law Enforcement with a heavy emphasis on Sociology.
I am originally from Neepawa, MB and my husband is from McCreary, MB. We have been married for 12 years and have a little girl who is 4. Family is extremely important to me and in my spare time I will be found doing various activities with the ones I love. When we have free time to get away, we can often be found returning to our home towns or camping in the quiet outdoors. After a recent trip to Disney World, our daughter has caught the travel bug and as a result we are already planning our next adventure.
I have always been passionate about children and playing a role in improving their lives. After high school I entered post secondary education with the intention of pursuing a career in policing. My goal was to be a school liaison officer, working both in the criminal justice field as well as in the school setting. After college I decided to stay on with the women's shelter and spent a lot of time working with children and families from various backgrounds. This opportunity only strengthened my desire to work with children, especially those in difficult situations. After returning to Manitoba and having my own daycare I was confident that teaching was the career that I wanted to pursue and returned to Brandon University to complete both my undergraduate and education degree.
